Operation Christmas Child (Nov. 19-25, 2012)

*photo is not ours

Christmas will be here in no time and we thought it would be nice to be able to spread some Christmas cheer to others in desperate situations. One way to do that was to fill a shoebox.

A shoebox you say? What kind of shoebox? Well…

Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the message of God’s unconditional love.

So many of us take advantage of our comfortable lives and we sometimes forget that there are others around the world that don’t have the simple luxuries that we sometimes overlook.

When packing the shoebox, you want to include items such as school supplies, hygiene items, clothing, toys, and possibly some candy. We went to Dollar Giant and Dollarama to find most of the items and also found two t-shirts and socks at Wal-Mart. The shoeboxes were obtained from our nearest collection centre which was Bogani Cafe. You can also use your own shoeboxes.

We decided to pack four boxes. Two for two girls and two for two boys.

For the boys, we have a shirt, some candy, stationary, a few toy cars, notebooks, socks, a flashlight, and some other items.

The girls boxes contained a shirt, socks, toys, stationary, a flashlight, candy and other items.

Luckily we were able to fit everything into the four boxes! =)

All packed and ready to be dropped off. Remember to put on your labels marking what aged child the box should be going to.

This project can be done with friends, a church small group, your family or yourself!
